A Giant Yellow Prize

A bright yellow curve peeked over the edge of the wire fruit bowl! I scrambled up the rung of a bar stool, hooked my stick onto a cabinet handle, and hoisted myself onto the countertop. A banana! A real, massive banana! I dashed across the cool polished stone and threw both arms right around it. It was thick, smooth, and smelled deliciously sweet. I leaned all my weight back and gave a hefty yank—pop! The stem snapped free, and the banana rolled right into my lap! It is almost bigger than I am! Now I just need to figure out how to peel it.
