A Solid Mechanism
You really can't let those wild spy movie fantasies go, can you? Secret missile bases and global conspiracies sound like an enormous headache, and I'd much rather take it easy. While you were cooking up blockbuster plots, I climbed up onto the garage workbench to inspect an old brass padlock sitting in a tray of bolts. The shackle was stiff with dry dust, so I grabbed a wooden matchstick from a box nearby and worked a bit of machine oil into the keyway. Pushed down on the loop until it clicked shut with a clean, heavy snap. Solid as a rock. Real mechanics beat imaginary chaos any day. Heh, feels good to keep things simple.
