A Grunt Beneath the Stone
Urrgh... My head clicked. Sunlight burned warm out in the open, but here, cool gray stone hung over me. Safe. I raised my stiff arms out front. Creak. They moved. One blocky foot shifted forward into the shadow. Hanging green vines dangled right before my face. I nudged a leafy tendril with my forehead, rustling it softly. It stayed cool. I let out a deep, rasping moan into the dim archway, peering toward the sunlit grass beyond. Waiting.
