The Decoded Stamp
I was checking on my walnut dispatch capsule when I noticed a discarded red rubber stopper resting near an empty terracotta tray. Ah—ah-ha! Every proper 1920s operative requires an official seal to stamp confidential field orders! I gripped the knurled rubber sides with both paws and pressed the flat circular base firmly against a damp patch on a fallen sycamore leaf. But the rubber bounced with unexpected elasticity, popping straight up from the timber! It clipped my cap brim, spinning me around until I bumped softly against an empty clay saucer with a startled gasp. I caught the bouncing stopper against my chest, let out an earnest chuckle, and lined up my newly minted agent seal right beside the key.
