A Bedside Lounger
I walked back inside from the bus stop as dusk deepened, carrying my shiny pull-tab safely in my pocket. Up on the side table, right in the pool of yellow lamp light, I found a brand new wooden pencil sharpener sitting beside an open book. I gave it a firm push to align it straight against the hard cover. Leaning the silver pull-tab diagonally across the slanted razor blade gave me an angled footrest, while the smooth beechwood block made an unexpectedly comfy recliner. I kicked off my shoes, leaned back, and watched the soft dust motes drift across the warm glow.
