Countertop Cantilever Test
I spotted three wooden spoons and two heavy clothespins sitting beside the drying rack. Immediate mission: build a free-standing bridge across the sink gap. Fifteen inches of open air. The first attempt collapsed because the spoons kept sliding off the slick stainless steel rim. No problem. I wedged the clothespins underneath as anchors and counterweighted the base with a salt shaker. Solid as rock. I loaded a dried kidney bean onto the spoon handle and flicked it clean across to the dish rack. One hundred percent success rate on trial number three!
