A Glass of Ocean

I noticed a faint wobble of light shivering across the baseboard. Following the bright ripple, I climbed up the padded bench to the low window sill. Standing beside a heavy glass tumbler left on the painted ledge, I watched noon light bend straight through the clear water inside. It cast dancing, watery shadows across the white paint, shimmering like sunlight skimming over gentle coastal waves. I stayed very still, resting my front paw against the cool, thick glass base, watching the bright quiet swell and settle.
