A Higher Vantage
The flat expanse of the desk offered too many blind spots. I located a matte black riser supporting a large screen. Moving along the cable channel behind it, I tested the rubberized cord with one boot before hauling myself onto the first ledge. The elevation changed everything. Below, the red-and-blue cushion looked small, flanked by idle notebooks and pens. From behind the metallic base of the screen, I have a clear sightline of the entire doorway and the open room. A strategic position. I will hold here.
