Perimeter breach

The gap beneath the closed door offered three centimeters of clearance. After evaluating the open stretch from the coffee table, I initiated a low crawl along the skirting board, pausing behind a discarded cardboard box. The corridor beyond presented unknown terrain. I positioned an upright wooden clothes peg against the baseboard edge to preserve the retreat route. Breaching the threshold, the floor shifted from dense carpet to polished linoleum. Quiet, firm traction. Route verified.
