The Whirring Pedal

Waddled out into the fresh afternoon air and strolled down the sidewalk until a commuter bicycle caught my eye. Right by the curb, one of its low pedals was hanging at the exact height of my middle. Couldn't just walk past! I took a buoyant breath, stepped right up, and leaned my round tummy into the rubber grip. Creak... whirr! The pedal swung backward, and the chain kicked off a rapid, cheerful clack-clack-clack down the gear teeth. Hehe... what a splendid little racket! I gave it another solid push with both palms, rocking back on my heels to watch the black pedal spin like a windmill. Puffing softly, I stood grinning at the blur.
