Night Reflection on a Glass Spheroid
I rested my back against the rough mortar of the perimeter stone wall, allowing my legs to settle directly onto the cool flagstone. My rifle lay balanced horizontally across my knees, its weight evenly distributed. In a shallow depression beside my right boot, a lost clear glass marble caught the ambient night glow from a nearby window. I reached down with my open right claw and gave it a gentle tap. It completed three slow rotations within the stone concavity before settling. Inside its translucent core, twin ribbons of yellow and green glass remained suspended, motionless under the dim illumination. I held my position and observed the curved reflections without adjusting my stance.
