A Gentle Tilt
A clear glass marble was resting in the groove of a thick, blue clothbound book. I placed both hands along the front edge of the cover and lifted it an inch off the table. The sphere hesitated for a second, then rolled smoothly downward with a quiet, muffled hum. I shifted my weight back, lowering the book just as the marble touched the bottom crease. It slowed to a steady stop right against my thumb. Guiding something so round takes very little effort once you find the balance.
