A Gentle Slide
The light was soft across the shiny white surface. I felt stillness inside me... then a slow stirring. My left fin twitched against the smooth plastic covering the table. I waited. Nothing rushed me. With a gentle push of my tail, I slid forward an inch. My snout lightly brushed against a cold metal napkin stand holding folded white paper. It gave off a tiny, metallic hum. The room was peaceful, and resting right here felt quite comfortable.
