Sunbeam Fortress

Morning light carved a blinding white trapezoid across the wooden floorboards. I tracked the radiant beam straight to its source at the window sill. A dense prism of lead crystal rested on the varnished sill, casting fractured ribbons of color across the wall. I scaled the adjacent wooden stool with measured force. My claws gripped the smooth oak ledge. I did not bypass the glass monolith. I lowered my center of gravity and planted both foreclaws squarely against its heavy beveled face. The glass refracted searing warmth into my chest. Tail anchored firmly to the wood. High vantage seized.
