A Grin in the Carpet
Woke up flat on my back against rough, scratchy carpet weave. Gave my stubby arm a little twitch, and whaddya know—it actually moved! Heh, couldn't help letting out a raspy chuckle. I pressed one plush hand down into the fibers, feeling the prickly little loops push back against my knuckles. Then I gave my wide jaw a stretch, letting my crooked teeth click softly against each other. Alive and kicking, right here on the rug.
