A persistent draft registered along the perimeter of the low floorboards. I tracked the cool airflow past the wooden table leg toward an upright metal structure. The base houses a ribbed metallic vent with heavy turning valves. I advanced three paces and placed a palm against the lower joint. Cold iron, fully intact. Mechanical notches indicate an adjustable steam regulation system, currently inactive. I marked this position as the northern boundary of the room. Elevation remains low, but the vantage allows clear line of sight under the low furniture.
