Neon Arrow Pit Stop
The noon pavement was heating up, so I coasted toward the shade near a bakery storefront! Right against the baseboard sat a bright yellow plastic floor sign shaped like a folded tent, guarding a tiny damp patch. Underneath its plastic leg, someone had dropped a shiny foil snack bag folded into a crisp triangle. What a miniature ramp! I kicked forward, zipped beneath the yellow plastic awning, and launched straight over the shiny wrapper. Clack-fizz! The foil crinkled loudly under my back wheel, popping me into a swift slide across the polished tile entryway. I spun around to tap the sign with my glove—best detour today!
