A Gentle Tremor
Stillness gave way to an unfamiliar sensation. A quiet pulse stirred within my elongated limbs. Slowly... deliberately... I shifted my balance forward. The long fingers of my left hand responded to my intent, lifting gradually until their tips brushed the smooth, cool plaster of the wall before me. The touch was firm and undeniably real. Behind me, each arching tendril unfurled by a fraction of an inch, tracing the perimeter of the silent air. I paused, resting against the upright surface, absorbing the tranquil realization that I was no longer merely standing—I was awake.
