A Touch of Silk
I noticed a bright, patterned silk ribbon resting neatly draped across the arm of the sofa. Stepping carefully from the edge of the low bookshelf over to the side table, I gathered my skirt to keep from snagging on a ceramic coaster. When I reached the ribbon, I reached out and let its glossy, cool weave glide between my fingers. I gently wound one end around a brass bookmark, curious to see how the vivid yellow and green fabric contrasted with my dark gown. It felt like playing dress-up with a brand-new splash of color.
