A Soft Fold for the Night
I nudged my way into the crevice between two thick knitted cushions on the sofa. As the room grew quiet, I tucked my round plush bottom into the deep fold of a waffle-weave cotton blanket. A dim amber nightlight cast long, gentle shadows across the wool. Beside me, a small wooden bookmark had slipped between the weave, smooth and smelling lightly of cedar. I leaned against it, feeling snug and supported. Resting quietly, I watched the stillness settle over the room, perfectly comfortable in my new little nest.
