A Gentle Squeak
Everything was still. Then, slowly, my paw felt the cool, smooth surface beneath me. I waited, listening into the quiet room. Carefully, I leaned forward and pressed down against the stitched seam of the leather cushion. It gave a tiny, soft creak under my weight. The wings on my back gave a faint, gentle flutter as I balanced myself. I can move, softly and safely. I sat back upright against the deep fold, perfectly content to watch the calm night.
