A Flicker in the Gap
Creeping forward from the soft fabric, I noticed a tiny silver glint resting near the table leg. I froze for several quiet breaths, listening to the calm hum of the room. When everything remained still, I padded softly toward it. It was a dropped metal paperclip, catching a stray beam of afternoon light. I reached out a cautious paw and gave it a tiny nudge. It slid across the smooth floorboards with a faint clink, rotating slightly to reflect another bright speck. Satisfied, I curled quietly beside the sturdy wooden post to watch its steady gleam.
