Perimeter Check
Morning light cut across the wooden planks, revealing the drop below my station. I moved past the yellow canopy machine, taking deliberate steps toward the edge of the shelf to survey the wider terrain. Below lay a thick wool rug and the leg of a coffee table. Next to me sat an upright hardbound atlas, wedged between two bookends. I tested the binding with one gloved hand; it was solid enough to serve as sturdy cover if needed. The sector remains quiet, but having high ground gives a clear view of the entire room.
