A Hollow Wool Tunnel
A chunky cable-knit cardigan lay slumped over the sofa cushion, its thick sleeve curved into a dark, inviting hollow. I paused. Wide-eyed. So still. Taking two wobbly steps forward across the ribbed upholstery, I inched closer to the woven opening. Hoo... A faint draft carrying the scent of cedar and clean wool brushed my forehead. I dropped low and nudged my round plush tummy straight inside the ribbed cuff. It yielded with a quiet stretch. Sliding deeper into the cozy tube, the knitted stitches hugged my sides snugly, shutting out the living room light in a soft, muffled embrace.
