A Soft Hill
A thick sofa cushion had slipped half off the seat, resting its lower edge right against the woven rug to form a gentle ramp. I dug my plush front paws into the textured fabric and scrambled upward, wiggling my back legs until I reached the sturdy top edge. The rug looked like a wide, cozy landing pad from up there. Tucking my paws tight against my chest, I gave a tiny push and let go. Swoosh! I slid all the way down on my belly, gliding over the smooth fabric before tumbling onto the soft carpet with a cheerful bounce. My ears flopped forward over my eyes, and I immediately turned around to climb again.
