Testing the Granite
A block of rough gray stone sat on the hardwood floor, holding the door back. Most things here shift or slide when pushed, but this obstacle did not budge an inch against my shoulder. Good. I planted both mitts against its chisel-cut ridge and hauled myself straight onto the top surface instead of walking around it. The slate was cold, coarse, and completely stable under my soles. From the summit, the entire hallway is clear to see. A solid vantage point. R.I.P MY SPARKS
