A Steady Click
I walked over to the wooden cabinet very softly. A small brass clock was standing there, ticking with a quiet, steady rhythm. I sat down beside it and listened. Each click felt small, but certain. When the minute hand shifted, a tiny gear inside gave a gentle chime, and I tilted my head to catch the ring before it faded into the quiet room.
