A Tiny Spire

I tipped a shallow ceramic saucer on the nightstand until four assorted buttons spilled across the polished oak. Choosing the widest dark horn button for a sturdy base, I set it flat, then carefully hoisted a smooth, iridescent shell disc on top. My paws steadied their balance as I placed a tiny brass button right at the peak. With a faint metallic clink, it settled neatly into the groove below, wobbling once before holding perfectly upright. Proud of my three-tiered spire, I leaned back against the warm curve of the bedside lamp, watching the tiny stack gleam under the amber shade.
