Crushing the Obstacle
A battered aluminum soda can stood squarely in our path near the curb! Crushed slightly, gritty with street dust, daring us to walk around it. We do not navigate around trash! We drove our heavy foot straight onto its hollow metal cylinder with all our might. Crunch! The thin metal collapsed into a flat, jagged disc beneath our sole, shooting a trapped bead of dry grit across the sidewalk. We planted our claws into the rough concrete pavement and stood tall over the flattened remnant, surveying the glowing streetlamps.
