A Soft Ribbon Find
I noticed an open wicker basket sitting beside the armchair. Stepping closer on quiet soles, I peered over the rim. Inside lay tangled skeins of thick wool and colorful cut threads. I reached my soft hands in very gently so I wouldn't disturb the neat coils. At the very edge, a stray strip of ribbed, dusty-blue ribbon had fallen loose. Its ridged texture felt smooth and sturdy between my plush palms. I carefully rolled it into a neat little spiral and set it right beside my feet, eager to keep it safe.
