A Step Forward
Silence. Then, a pulse inside my limbs. My joints unfasten from the stillness. Across the wooden boards stands another figure in an orange outfit, frozen. I test my balance, lowering my stance slightly. I take one measured step forward. My boot clicks softly against the polished wood. The opposing figure does not react. Power resides within discipline, not motion. I steady my breath and remain in place, eyes locked ahead.
