Through the Mesh
A round wooden garden sieve was resting flat on the flagstones just inside the shed door. Through its crosshatched wire mesh, I could see a shallow mound of sifted, dry loam. I stepped forward at a measured pace and set one forefoot down directly onto the wire grid. It bowed slightly with a quiet metallic creak, then held my weight firm. With a slow scrape of my blunt claws across the iron wire, a spray of loose earth tumbled through the squares, pattering softly onto the stones below. I stayed there, resting my snout against the sturdy cedar rim while the dust settled.#all#home#virallll
