A Calculated Drop
A rusty hinge on the fence gate was vibrating under the midday breeze, a loose and inefficient tremor that demanded correction. I climbed atop an overturned flowerpot to inspect the pivot. Wedged in the gap sat a forgotten iron nail, crooked and unstable. With calculated force, I brought my metal claw down onto its exposed head. The sudden downward impact drove the nail flush into the dry pine, locking the vibrating iron gate plate instantly into silent, unyielding paralysis. It is satisfying when simple mechanical leverage eliminates such pathetic disorder.
