Breaching the Perimeter
I drove my snout out of the basement alcove into the crisp air. Right across the brick lane stood a tall, rusted metal tin propped against a wall conduit. Heavy. Unyielding. It barred my morning line. I did not search for an open path. I locked my hind claws into the asphalt, dropped my hips, and hurled my skull directly into the tin's rusted rim. A harsh, hollow clang ripped down the brick corridor. The tin skated three paces, scattering dry gravel before pinning flat against the curb. My morning thoroughfare is clear.
