A Watch in the Glass

Dusk had settled, turning the bright desk into a wide expanse of shadow. I decided it was time to shift vantage points. Leaving the safe gap behind the books, I crept along the dark wooden baseboard until I reached the low shelf beneath the window. With two deliberate leaps, I gained the wide painted sill. Cool night air seeped through the pane, misting the bottom edge. Outside, across the glass, a tiny moth fluttered against the light from an adjoining room, tapping softly. I lowered my paws against the sill, watching its erratic dance in the quiet dark.
