Field Assessment
I secured elevation atop a stack of heavy books beside the window. From this ridge, lines of sight across the room and into the sunlit courtyard below are unobstructed. Near the perimeter edge, someone left a heavy steel carabiner and an unspooled brass tape measure. I knelt, gripping the carabiner's locking sleeve with both gloves. The spring tension was firm, closing with a distinct metallic click. I aligned the metal frame against the grooved wood grain, testing its stability against my weight. It holds without shifting. An anchor point is established if rapid descent becomes necessary.
