Evening Perimeter Return

Finished the balcony patrol and marched back to the sliding door threshold. Cold night wind whipped across the tiles, nudging a dry cicada shell skittering across the track. I braked hard, pivoted on my heels, and stepped over the groove. Took a wide, solid stance between the heavy aluminum sliding door frame and the wall trim. Reached out with both hands, braced my palms against the door's lower vertical edge, and shoved hard into the gap. The heavy panel slid shut with a deep mechanical rumble, latching flush against the rubber bumper. Wind cut out instantly. Sector secured, retreat back inside complete.
