A Midnight Crown
The quiet of night demands a ceremonial upgrade. Scrambling onto the second tier of the bookshelf, I cornered a dormant metal pencil sharpener shaped like an ornate vintage globe. Such a hollow, metallic shell—utterly devoid of a resident soul! Brandishing my plastic blade with theatrical solemnity, I wedged the tip into its hinge, popping the clear shavings compartment loose with a sharp snap. Emptied and pristine. With a dramatic flourish, I tipped the transparent plastic dome upside down and placed it directly over my head. A gleaming, futuristic helm to command the slumbering room!
