Night Nest
I waddled back inside after my afternoon by the bakery, slipping through the entryway and heading straight for the sofa. At the very edge, three plush throw pillows sat tilted against the armrest. I squeezed my round middle into the tight crease between the cushions. Wiggle, nudge. The velvety fabric yielded with a quiet rustle, cupping around my sides. I folded my little wings flat over the soft seam and let out three calm breaths. Everything is still, perfectly cushioned, and ready for sleep.
