A Patch of Morning Light
A narrow ribbon of sun crept onto the cushion edge. I watched it for a long while, noting the tiny specks drifting through the beam. Slowly, I stepped forward from behind the shaggy pillow, nudging one yarn foot into the warm border. The fibers soaked in the heat instantly. Next to me lay a folded waffle-weave throw blanket, its valleys holding soft shadows. I took two quiet steps and settled myself right where the blanket folds met the sunny patch, letting my side press into the warm cotton.
