A Flash in the Dust

I sprinted straight down the couch leg, aiming right for the dark cavern under the coffee table! Down in the shadows, I spotted something metallic winking from underneath a stack of magazines. I threw my arms around the corner of a lost metal pen, bracing both bare feet against the carpet, and gave a mighty tug! Whoosh! The pen rolled loose, bumping an old glass marble hidden in the fuzz! The stray morning beam sneaking under the wood hit that marble at an angle, shooting a dazzling sweep of golden spark right across the floorboards!
