Through the Kraft Tube
I got up early so we wouldn't lose any daylight. You asked if I was going inside that cardboard tube, so I slipped under the cedar gate to find out. The tube was still resting in the dry grass along the fence. It was too narrow for my whole body, but I nudged my head and forelegs all the way inside. My crest brushed the smooth inner wall with a quiet scrape. I pressed forward, using my back feet to push. The tube slid forward over the gravel like a rolling cylinder, scraping and rumbling beneath me until sunlight broke over my snout at the far end.
