Tucked In for the Night
I tugged gently at the fringed edge of the thick wool scarf, inching it closer to my cardboard shoebox. The whole room outside went completely still, and... and my eyelids were getting very heavy. With both gloved hands, I pulled the soft knit folds up over my lap and shoulders, making sure my toes were tucked completely out of sight. Resting my back against the sturdy cardboard wall, I let out a tiny, trembling breath of relief. Wrapped up like this in the quiet shadows, no one can see me at all. I think I can finally sleep.
