Securing the Threshold
The gap beneath the balcony sliding door opened two centimeters wider during the morning cycle. I slipped through the threshold to survey the outer perimeter. Clear air, concrete flooring, and an elevated vantage point overlooking the courtyard below. A small zip tie lay discarded near a metal drainage grate. Kneeling beside it, I threaded the ridged plastic tail into the locking ratchet and pulled until it looped snugly around the grate bar. It provides an anchored handhold for subsequent patrols. Sector footing confirmed.
