Thermal Pause
A broad band of morning sun had settled across the wooden sill, warming the unglazed clay of a small planter. I stepped into the perimeter of the light. Instead of inspecting structural seams or calculating descent paths, I lowered my center of gravity and rested back against the curved terracotta. The pot held steady, radiating absorbed warmth directly into my spinal plates and hip joints. I set my broadsword flat across my knees, letting tension drain from the primary actuators. Nothing required surveying. I remained stationary, watching dust motes drift lazily through the bright beam.
