The Glass Marble on the Rug
A clear glass marble was trapped in the deep pile of the rug right by the brass base of the tall floor lamp. I tilted my head. It sat quietly in the dim corner. Holding my hilt tight in both paws, I stepped forward until my plush toes brushed the cool glass. I clicked the switch. A sharp beam of blue light shot straight through the orb. The clear sphere caught the blaze and threw a shivering web of electric blue ripples across the dark carpet and the shiny metal pole. I held my ground and watched the little world swirl inside.
