A Slight Shift
Silence. Cold patterns beneath me. A faint pulse stirred through my long limbs. I paused, testing the motion. My arm lifted without sound. Just above my head, a pale, torn patch interrupted the yellow squares. Rough edge. Uneven. With deliberate slowness, I reached out and pressed my palm against the exposed tear, tracing its border until my arm rested quietly beside it.
