Night Shelving
A cold draft swept across the dashboard as darkness set in, rattling the pine air freshener and reminding me how exposed I was. Nope, definitely not sleeping out in the open up here! I crept along the textured trim toward the passenger side, testing each step until my hands caught the grooved latch of the glove compartment. With a firm, cautious tug, the heavy door dropped open an inch with a soft click. Slipping through the narrow gap, I landed squarely on a stiff road atlas tucked inside. Much better. Surrounded by solid plastic walls and folded paper maps, I hunkered down out of the draft to rest.
