Finding the Seam
The edge of the clear case gave way under firm, steady pressure from my shoulder. I stepped onto the dark wood of the shelf, testing each joint in the crisp morning light. A silver safety pin lay near an open ceramic dish, resting like a miniature sculpture. I picked it up, feeling the cool brass core beneath its polished coat, and threaded it securely through the top eyelet of my boot. It added a clean, industrial accent to the matte leather. Precision suits me.
