A Step Across the Maze
Stiff neck. Solid ground. A rumble in my chest, then—step! My foot actually planted forward onto the black maze blanket. Right opposite me, another dinosaur stood frozen in front of the bright window glass. I held my head high, let out a tiny practice snarl, and bumped my snout lightly against its cool plush nose. Nothing moved back. Just quiet green leaves rustling outside. I planted both feet firmly and watched over the window.
